Agios Gordios is a little hidden gem located south west of Corfu. Agios Gordios is built on a hill so this may not be the resort for you if you are not reasonably fit. That aside, the village itsself is friendly and the views will take your breath away. You can't help but be impressed by the view that greets you the first time you go down to the beach front. Turning to the beach, you get to the beach via the main street which slopes fairly gently down to the beachfront. To your left, you will find the shingle and pebble beach whilst to right there a beautiful sandy stretch of beach front. If you have children then its possibly best that you go to the sandy beach which slopes gently out and is shallow quite away out. Agios Gordios is not too large, and so retains the traditional Corfiot friendliness, but it is big enough to have a good range of accommodation, tavernas, shops etc. The beautiful Ionian facing curved bay in which it sits is ideal for swimming and sunbathing (nudists / naturists are catered for at the far end of the bay). The hills behind provide wonderful walks, on trails through the olive groves and beyond. Everything you need is available in Agios Gordios – shops, supermarkets, plenty of places to eat and drink, and two discos. There is no bank (only a couple of ATMs) yet – but you can easily change money in most places. There are several travel agents – which are the places to check first if you want to do an excursion. You may well find prices a lot cheaper than those offered by your holiday company’s reps. Agios Gordios has a wonderful main beach, which in summer time is full of people who are enjoying the bright clear sea water, the sun and the lively boulevard with its many bars, taverns and restaurants. The beach has fine sand and sunbeds and parasols can be used. |
